RIAT 2022

Nach zweijähriger Zwangspause fand das Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2022 wieder statt. Die Diesjährige Show fand unter drei Mottos statt. Dem „Platinium Jubilee“ zu Ehren des 70. Thronjubiläums von Queen Elisabeth II, „USAF 75th“ zum 75. Jubiläum des US Air Force und das Thema „Training“ als Blick in die Vergangenheit und Zukunft der Pilotenausbildung und deren Training. Dies ergab einen guten Mix aus unterschiedlichen Epochen, aber vor allem wurden natürlich die aktuellen Generationen gezeigt.

After a 2 year maditory break finally the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) was back in 2022. This years Show was presented with three motto’s: „Platinium Jubilee„, „Training“ and „USAF 75th„. This resulted a good mix of the different era but of course mainly the actual generations.

Das Thema „Training“ war mit Mustern aus unterschiedlichsten Ländern vertreten. Jordanien schickte seine Royal Jordanian Falcons, das irische „Silver Swallows“ Display Team machte sein Internationales Debüt in Fairford ebenso wie die französischen Trainer Pilatus PC-21 des Teams „Mustang X-Ray Tactical Display“. Alte Bekannte, wie das „PC-7 Team“, einigen Solodisplays als auch sehr vielen Flugzeugen im Static Display präsentiert. Das Static Display enthielt hier auch Exoten wie zwei BAe Hawks aus dem Emirat Qatar, einem Eurofighter aus Kuwait und verschiedensten historischen Flugzeugen und vielem mehr.

The motto „Training“ was really well presented by the different countries. This was presented by display teams as „The Royal Jordanian Falcons“, den „Silver Swallows Display Team“, „Mustang X-Ray Tactical Display, „PC-7 Team“ as well as several Solo displays as well as many planes in static display. They contained also some exotes like two BAe Hawks of the Qatar Air Force, a Eurofighter of the Kuwait Air Force as well as different historic jets and many more.

Das Platinium Jubilee brachte vor allem Flugzeuge und Hubschrauber der britischen Streitkräfte mit sich. Zudem schickte die kanadische Luftwaffe zwei Flugzeuge und einige, vor allem englische historische Flugzeuge wurden gezeigt.

Die U.S. Air Force feiert dieses Jahr ihr 75 jähriges bestehen, weshalb der Besuch der Amerikaner unter dem Motto „USAF 75th“ stand. Das Flying Display beinhaltete nach der Absage der B-52 lediglich das Display einer Bell Boeing CV-22B Osprey . Im Static Display wurde dies allerdings deutlicher gefeiert. Hier wurde neben diversen Jets eine U-2, ein Osprey, einer MC-130J, KC-135R, KC-46A auch der größte Flieger der Show in Form einer Boeing E-4B gezeigt.

The U.S. Air Force is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, which is why the Americans‘ visit was themed „USAF 75th“. After the cancellation of the B-52, the flying display only included the display of a Bell Boeing CV-22B Osprey . In the static display, the celebration was more obvious. Here, in addition to various jets, a U-2, an Osprey, a MC-130J, KC-135R, KC-46A and the largest aircraft of the show in the form of a Boeing E-4B was shown.

Das Flying Display beinhaltete neben den großen Display Teams auch einige Formationen mit den Red, weitere Formationen und Solo Displays. Die Displayteams waren hier mit den koreanischen Black Eagles, den Freece Tricolore als auch dem lokalen Red Arrows sehr gut vertreten. Am Freitag flogen die Red Arrows mit einer Boeing P-8A Poseidon, am Samstag mit Airbus KC2 Voyager und am Sonntag mit den Black Eagles in Formation. Des Weiteren flogen die 2Excel Boeing 727 zusammen mit zwei Extra 300 der „The Blades“ und es gab eine eindrucksvolle Abfangübung des Österreichischen Bundesheers. Als Exot im Flying Display war der Airbus Beluga XL am Samstag zu bestaunen. Zusammen mit den restlichen Solo Displays ergab sich hier ein sehr gelungenes Flugprogramm.

The Flying Display included the big display teams as well as some formations with the Red Arrows, as other formations and solo displays. The display teams were well represented here with the Korean Black Eagles, the Freece Tricolore as well as the local Red Arrows. On Friday the Red Arrows flew with a Boeing P-8A Poseidon, on Saturday with Airbus KC2 Voyager and on Sunday with the Black Eagles in formation. Furthermore, the 2Excel Boeing 727 flew together with two Extra 300 of „The Blades“ and there was an impressive interception exercise of the Austrian Armed Forces. As an exotic flying display the Airbus Beluga XL could be marveled at on Saturday. Together with the other solo displays, this resulted in a very impressive flight program.

Neben den Motto Displays waren auch die unterschiedlichsten Muster im Static Display vertreten. Den größte Posten stellten hier die deutschen Streitkräfte mit diversen Flugzeugen und Helikopter. Dies beinhaltete auch das zweitgrößte Flugzeug im display den Airbus A340-300 der Luftwaffe. Exoten gab es u.a. in Form einer brasilianischen Embraer KC-390, einer Japanischen Kawasaki C-2, eine Lockheed C-130H Hercules aus Bahrain und Jordanian, einer Casa C-295MPA aus Oman und der Antonov AN-30 „Clank“ aus Rumänien. Neben diesen waren noch Maschinen vieler weiteren europäischen Streitkräften und ziviler Besucher vertreten, was das Programm gut abrundete.
